Product developer - Auckland

A rare and exciting opportunity has become available in our Sylvester workroom. We are seeking a motivated, detail driven product developer or spec technician to join our team based in central Auckland. You’ll work closely with the design team and product development team, helping to create and manage the sampling and production of each collection. 

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same, from creating fabrics and samples, liaising with off-shore suppliers, tracking samples and deliveries through to ensuring garments meet fit and quality standards.

In this role, you will:

  • Work alongside the design team to bring collections to life from concept to final product
  • Oversee production processes from start to finish, ensuring fit, quality, and construction standards are met
  • Create technical specs for garment and fabric development, including technical drawings, measurements, and construction details
  • Review and support the approval process of lab dips, strike offs, test weaves, production fabrics/trims and samples
  • Fit garments on fit model, assessing spec measurements and assisting in remedying fit issues and design changes
  • Check samples through all stages and liaise with offshore suppliers to communicate fit and construction amendments, whilst maintaining smooth workflows and relationships
  • Maintain critical paths, update production tracker and support the best possible delivery outcomes
  • Organise and track samples & fabrics

You will bring:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in garment production with a strong knowledge of garment construction, fittings, patterns and production processes is essential
  • Qualification in fashion, design and pattern making preferred.
  • Strong Illustrator and Photoshop skills to create technical drawings and specs
  • Strong Excel skills for creating technical specs, tracking data and updating timelines
  • Clear communication and confidence in liaising with offshore suppliers
  • A sharp eye for detail and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • The ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn new systems and processes
