Coco is modern and brave.
This capsule collection is inspired by two iconic women, Coco Chanel and Marianne Faithfull.
Coco Chanel stands tall, feet wide, hands in pockets. She wears her boyfriend’s striped tee and suit pants hitched high at the waist. Sleeves pushed up to her forearms, she’s ready to take on the world.
Mum claims this was the moment modern womenswear was created. Mashing up the masculine and feminine has always defined Sylvester’s charm and so we thought it was high time to celebrate the originator.
Our Coco shirting and Traveller stories provide a myriad of easy, and elevated shirting options. The black tie and white shirt moment is a nod to Tom Conway and his impeccable tie styling.
Still in France, we’ve riffed with the classic French workman’s uniform featuring utilitarian shapes in vibrant spring blues and greens.
Balancing those masculine elements, our Blooms and Nova stories bring in super feminine slip and dress shapes in fresh ivory and apple green, finished with intricate embroidery and ready for summer party season.
Our second style icon is Marianne Faithfull. Trawling through old reference images, we found two photos of her wearing the same nautical blouse, taken 40 years apart. We always strive to create clothes that are equally at home in every wardrobe, pieces that will journey with you through life. Mariannes blouse has evolved into an entire story including our fantastic summer jumpsuit.
New Denim and knitwear styles are feeling especially summery. The marigold Shell polo and ivory Denim walk shorts are quintessential Sylvester spring. We’ve also un-earthed a bunch of archive Kate Sylvester opticals and have given them new life with sunglass lens to complete your timeless summer styling.
