Wings
Winter '26
Arriving March 31st
A collection for Winter from Sylvester.
We can’t call people without wings angels, so we call them friends.
Our latest collection is inspired by the film Wings of Desire by Wim Wenders.
Set in gritty 80s Berlin, we follow two angels Damiel & Cassiel, who long to connect, touch and feel, the same way humans do.
The film moves between black/white and colour as the angels become human, a symbolic representation of the beauty of life.
The movie features a gorgeous soundtrack, and charming cameo, by Nick Cave.
Austere urban suiting is where this collection begins. The storm flaps on the Immortal Coat evolved from the idea of physical wings. The fur collared flight jacket perfectly captures the spirit of 80s Berlin. We imagined Nick Cave in a dimly lit back room wearing our Berlin Suiting, the unique drawstring detail in the back of the jacket cinched tight, as he howls over a crowd.
We can’t call people without wings angels, so we call them friends. This beautiful line sums up the collection perfectly. The words came from a piece of art by our buddy & artist, Francis Page Gummer, and have been included in the collection on a t-shirt based on his artwork.
As in the movie, pops of colour break through our grey and black Berlin palette, particularly vivid grass green and berry in our Huddle merino and Stellar embroidery. Hoods feature strongly in our Crossing knitwear and signature Sylvester quilting story and falling feathers create a beautiful print in blue and black.
A very exciting addition to our Wings collection is our collab with Davaar Knitwear. Spun and knitted in New Zealand using strong wool form the Davaar Sheep Station in Southland, we’ve added our signature Sylvester red stripe. These beautiful rural knits effortlessly adapt into our very urban collection.
